I haven't posted about this yet on social media as I was waiting for the right time…..and there is no right time. About 5 weeks ago my dad, Gerard, was diagnosed with Leukemia. Discovered out of the blue after a cold he had wouldn't go away and fatigue seemed to have taken over daily. He's had 3 blood transfusions and just finished his first round of chemo. And in typical Bentley fashion, he handled it all like a champ. He will have one more round of chemo and then go in for a Bone Marrow Transplant around October. Thankfully his brother is a perfect match for the transplant. As so many of us know, the word cancer is one that is life altering. It brings about fear, anger, facing one's mortality, frustration in wanting to give up coupled with a strong will to survive. Most of you don't know my dad (usually my mom uses his iPad and posts as him on FB 🙂, but as he navigates this emotional roller coaster and huge life changes, send him some good thoughts, encouragement, love or prayers. We all need a little help from our friends, virtual or not. I love you daddy. You will beat this.
To My Strong and Courageous Father
